    TraceLink is seeking a security co-op for Spring Semester 2019 (with possible extension) that will participate in and assist with a broad range of security and engineering operations, risk and compliance initiatives, and analysis tasks in support of a comprehensive security program designed to support the TraceLink global environment. You will work with subject matter experts to: analyze threat and vulnerability alerts; evaluate multiple intelligence sources for threats; identify and track threats across domains; perform basic malware analysis and forensics; document and report intrusions, coordinate remediation; and assist in the development, evaluation, and maintenance of cyber security tools, policies, and procedures. This individual will join a fast-paced and expanding team with great self-growth potential.

    Expected activities the individual will contribute to include:

    • Maintain up-to-date detailed knowledge of the IT security industry including awareness of new threat vectors/attacks and protections
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of policies, processes, and procedures to improve operational efficiencies
    • Research, recommend, evaluate, and implement information security solutions that identify and/or protect against potential threats, and respond to security violations
    • Assist in maintaining up-to-date baselines and operational configurations for the secure operations of all company assets
    • Perform system security administration on designated technology platforms, including operating systems, applications, and security systems
    • Perform vulnerability scans of the environment, evaluate findings, and recommend mitigations
    • Perform daily security operations to monitor the environment
    • Assist with issue mitigation or escalation as necessary
    • Develop reports to document activities and results
    • Provide onsite support to end users for security-related issues

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma and currently enrolled in an accredited college program with course work related to the internship or general knowledge normally obtained through the completion of a college degree
    • Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA
    • Ability to work 40 hours per week
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening and questioning skills
    • Strong documentation skills
    • Ability to conduct research into a wide range of security issues as required
    • Ability to absorb and retain information quickly
    • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
    • Ability to work effectively both as member of a team and an individual contributor
    • Highly self-motivated and directed
    • Keen attention to detail
    • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a highly dynamic, fast changing, and fluid work environment
    • Working technical knowledge of networking including TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs, and switches
    • Working technical knowledge of computer hardware and operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux)
    • Basic understanding of information security and compliance concepts
    • Basic scripting/programming skills for automation
    • Demonstrated passion towards information security
    • Prior experience/rotation as a security or IT intern or co-op a plus
