    Cloud Operations Development Manager

     

    TraceLink is seeking a full-time, Software Development Manager, to lead our Cloud Operations Development Team.  The COD team is the core of TraceLink’s infrastructure as code mentality.  And is focused on writing code and leveraging tools, to orchestrate and maintain the infrastructure, behind TraceLink’s Life Sciences Cloud platform.  The ideal candidate to lead this team will have a strong understanding of cloud infrastructures and DevOps principles, as well as experience managing software development teams.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead a diverse team of developers, providing guidance, support and mentorship. Act as a technical role model.
    • Follow and enrich the team’s SDLC, leveraging common Agile methodologies and TraceLink practices.
    • Support the efforts of the Cloud Operations Engineering Team in executing releases and deployments.
    • Work closely with project and product management, to plan and deliver releases.
    • Coordinate with PM, team leads and senior management on project requirements and timelines.
    • Take ownership of the cloud infrastructure deployment, management and efficiency, as the primary mission of the team.
    • Communicate with all parts of the TraceLink organization, in both verbal and written capacity.
    • Work with senior TraceLink management to develop and refine the Operational Architecture as the product and company evolves.

    Job Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
    • 3+ years leading software development teams, in an Agile environment.
    • 3+ years development experience with Python.
    • 3+ years managing people.
    • Experience working in AWS.
    • Experience with Linux development.
    • Experience working with containerized Micro-Services.
    • Extensive knowledge of project and code management tools, such as Jira and Git.
    • Experience with Configuration Management Systems such as Puppet (preferably) or Chef.
    • Experience with with systems monitoring systems and logfile aggregation systems such as Nagios and ELK/TICK
    • Strong organizational skills. Ability to multi-task, estimate timelines accurately and set/take priorities effectively. Attention to detail is critical.
    • Strong communication skills. Ability to communicate and document new/established tools/procedures/policies.  Understands role of documentation and communication in an operational environment.
    • Understanding of secure systems design and secure coding practices
    • Excellent problem solving skills.

     

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

    • Advanced degree in Computer Science
    • Experience working as a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineer.
    • Knowledge of Docker and container orchestration.
    • Experience with CI/CD environments.
    • Exposure to GxP regulated environments and developing software in same
