    Team Lead, Integration Documentation

    Experienced Technical Writer with a knack for leadership and a background of documenting highly technical products. This position reports to the Manager of the Technical Publications and is responsible for between 2-3 other writers of varying levels and experience. Must be a true evangelist of People and Innovation.

    The Team Lead tracks and reports milestones and data from the Documentation Development Life Cycle to upper management and offers analysis of trends and patterns while ensuring high quality content and on-time delivery. In addition, the Team Lead serves as the chief facilitator of all Agile ceremonies included but not limited to sprint planning, backlog grooming, sprint reviews, and sprint retrospectives.

    As TraceLink’s product is leveraged internationally, a firm understanding of Content Management impacts and processes to drive Localization strategy and a demonstrated sense of international sensitivity is a must.

    ­

    Leadership

    • Facilitate a team culture that is both productive and enjoyable, delivering high quality content within two-week iterations.
    • Grow and adapt the team based on the growing needs of the product and company
    • Develop an onboarding program to ensure an efficient onboarding experience for all Technical Writers while also ensuring documentation best practices and standards are understood and consistent across a rapidly growing team.
    • Directs the team’s rapidly changing priorities to meet release deadlines while also implementing documentation enhancements.
    • Compile and report team metrics and analytics while reflecting on their meaning to help drive the team strategy forward based on lessons learned and metrics/analytic trends.
    • Serve as JIRA facilitator to track key Document Development Life Cycle (DDLC) milestones for each project while gathering project metrics.
    • Agile enthusiast who successfully facilitates two-week sprint schedules and all scrum artifacts which increases production and improves inter-department communication.
    • Implement and maintain Team Wiki to ensure onboarding and daily operations/processes are consistent and accessible.
    • Reports directly to Technical Publications top leadership to assess product needs and subsequently communicate requirements to contributors while reporting System Documentation and team performance.

    Documentation Experience

    • Chief information architect and author for numerous complex documents including SOAP, REST, and asynchronous API Guides.
    • Develops company’s technical documentation branding strategy while liaising with UX and Marketing teams to optimize and advocate for the User’s Experience both in the product and in print.
    • Proficient in MadCap Flare or comparable authoring tool as to assess the documentation including styling and navigation (for both Online and Print) and mitigates any technical issues with source control and other tools as they arise.
    • Liaises with Engineering organization to influence developer documentation strategy, implementation, and testing while prioritizing scale and function – leveraging automation whenever possible.

    Quality

    • Assess documentation accuracy and clarity through comprehensive Peer Review and Technical Review processes.
    • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure that the documentation meets expectations while continually improving the content and documentation experience.
    • Synthesizes highly technical requirements and triage/assign accordingly.
    • Implement a Quality Control (QC) program to ensure all documentation meets standards and performs optimally for a seamless user experience.
    • Studies new findings in the industry to ensure the documentation does not run stale.
    • Liaise with other Technical Publications teams to ensure standards and styles are consistent, in addition to processes.

    Candidates must possess the following history, abilities, and traits:

    • A leader who demonstrates integrity and results with a history of building successful documentation teams.
    • Ability to quickly learn, analyze, understand, and communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner through the highest quality content.
    • History of on time, quality delivery in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
    • Proactive at removing impediments with a “get the job done” attitude.
    • Flexible, able to work well under constant pressure and adapt to ever-changing deadlines.
    • Technically curious and self-motivated to understand product functionality.
    • Ability to ask penetrating questions regarding enterprise systems while advocating for audience needs.
    • Ability to prioritize while taking direction from Management.
    • An ambassador of collaboration (within and across the organization).
    • Experience with MadCap Flare and Source Control.
    • Experience with developer and project management tools, including GIT, SourceTree, Confluence, Pivotal Tracker, Jira, and SharePoint.
    • Experience with tools for graphics and productivity, such as Visio, Illustrator, SnagIt, and Microsoft Office.
    • Knowledge of ERP and supply chain software.
    • Knowledge of JSON, XML, HTML, and CSS.
    • BS/BA in related field such as Computer Science, Communications, English, or Technical Writing, or equivalent experience. 
    • Minimum 1-3 years of experience as a Technical Writer for complex software systems within a GxP environment.
    • Minimum 3-5 years of startup experience.
